Notre Dame Church in Dijon

A fine example of Gothic architecture.
The Notre-Dame of Dijon Church, built between 1229 to 1250, is considered one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Burgundy.
The church's facade is unique in France with two stories of arches and three overlapping rows of gargoyles. It is crowned by the Jacquemart automaton, commandeered from the Courtrai Belfry by Philip the Bold after taking the city.
All the statues and portal sculptures were damaged by hammer blows during the French revolution, sadly depriving the Notre-Dame of Dijon Church of its precious carvings.
