Art Danse Bourgogne, dance festival
United by a love of dance.
In 1987 Anne-Marie Renaud, Marie-Jo Gros, Brigitte Réal and Laure Marcel-Berlioz founded the Art Danse Bourgogne association. United by a love of dance, their objectives for the association were to contribute to the promotion and creation of contemporary dance in the region, foster a number of cultural events linked to contemporary dance and to provide a resource and development centre that would help to promote a culture which at the time was relatively limited.
The first edition of the Art Danse festival took place in 1988 to celebrate the Year of Dance. Two strong themes emerged: a desire to create a resolutely contemporary event and to focus on new creation.
The festival presents the different sides of contemporary dance, encouraging a mixture of disciplines and promoting work with a strong unique character. The line-up includes internationally renowned companies as well as young companies from France and abroad who are invited to take their place on the newcomers stage. The association's open and welcoming attitude encourages the development and discovery of new forms of creation.
